“Healing takes time, and asking for help is a courageous step.”
– Mariska Hargitay
Have you ever felt like your anxiety is winning? No matter what you do for your mental health, you’re always on edge, always fearful, always unable to relax? It’s easy to lose hope when you feel like you’ve tried everything on your own, only to end up back at square one.
Mental health is a popular topic of discussion, but many do not receive the care they need. In Texas, 36.8% of adults reported symptoms of a depressive and/or anxiety disorder, yet 61% did not receive any care. Teens in Texas also have the highest rate of experiencing a depressive episode and not receiving care, at 73.1% Both groups reported stigma and embarrassment as the main reasons for not seeking treatment.
Reflections Lifestyle Center understands the need for quality, nonjudgmental mental health care for adults and adolescents. Through our intensive outpatient program, we offer flexible treatment options in a safe and welcoming environment.
Both adolescents and adults face mental health conditions every day, causing missed social engagements, poor work or school performance, and all-around feelings of unwellness. When depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, ADHD, or PTSD create debilitating symptoms, it can be stressful wondering where you can turn. What many don’t realize is mental health is crucial to overall well-being, including physical and emotional health. And if it isn’t managed, everything can feel like it’s falling apart.
This is where treatment comes in. At Reflections Lifestyle Center, we offer a full-spectrum program for adults and adolescents facing mental health conditions.
One of the biggest concerns when it comes to seeking mental health treatment is missing work, school, and home life obligations. The program at Reflections Lifestyle Center is flexible for this reason, and we accomplish this through our intensive outpatient program (IOP). Daily therapies, skill-building classes, and holistic components make up our treatment regime, and you will attend sessions that fit into your schedule.
For adults, IOP is available in person, virtually, or a hybrid of both. You will receive the quality mental health care you need while fulfilling your daily responsibilities. For adolescents, IOP is offered in person, with a dedicated time to accomplish schoolwork. Our facility will have tutors available during this time to provide help wherever needed. Adult IOP is separate from adolescent IOP, ensuring those of similar ages are in groups together, and promoting peer interaction.
Intensive outpatient programming (IOP) is a flexible treatment option for addressing and managing mental health conditions. It provides a higher level of care than traditional outpatient therapy while allowing you to maintain your daily responsibilities. IOP is a way to receive quality care while continuing your work, school, or family commitments. At Reflections Lifestyle Center, our IOP is offered to adults and adolescents and entails various therapy components and medication management.
During IOP at Reflections Lifestyle Center, you can expect rigorous and extensive therapies that go beyond the industry standard. Here are just a few modalities you will encounter at Reflections:
In group therapy, you will be surrounded by peers of like-mindedness and backgrounds. All participants will take turns sharing experiences, advice, and goals with each other with the mediation of a licensed therapist. The benefits of group therapy include gaining confidence in communicating with others and developing a sense of camaraderie among others. Reflections Lifestyle Center has regular group therapy sessions in our IOP.
Individual therapy is your time to express your feelings, work toward your goals, and learn valuable coping skills. No two stories are the same, and individual therapy is your platform to speak about your past, how your symptoms have impacted your life, and where you hope to be in the future. Not all facilities offer individual therapy, and some only provide one or two sessions per month. At Reflections Lifestyle Center, we understand the importance of individual therapy and mental wellness, which is why we offer regular sessions for adults and adolescents in our intensive outpatient program.
Caring for your mental health goes beyond learning to change negative thoughts and skill-building. Holistic approaches including yoga, meditation, art, and nutrition are just as integral as therapies. Implementing these practices promotes wellness physically as well as mentally in a fun and relaxing environment. After IOP is complete, being able to manage stress through yoga or art expression will give you a healthy outlet, keeping your mental health thriving. Reflections Lifestyle Center is proud to offer these holistic programs as a part of our IOP.
When your loved one is facing mental health difficulties, you are often left wondering what you can do or how you can help. Reflections Lifestyle Center offers a family program where you will receive updates on your loved one, learn about their condition, and receive therapy of your own. Having family support is crucial for mental well-being, and we will be there for both you and your loved one throughout the whole treatment process, including during IOP.
There is no set timeline for IOP. The length of care depends solely on the person’s needs and goals, which vary based on their background and their condition. Some will need more time in IOP than others, which is why there is no set timeframe for care.
IOP sessions also vary in frequency. Most will come to the facility between 3 and 5 times per week for therapies and classes. During IOP at Reflections, adults will have the option of virtual treatment to minimize their travel time each day. Adolescent IOP is offered in person, as we provide a set time for schoolwork to be completed with the help of our onsite tutors.
Both intensive outpatient programming and residential treatment have benefits when it comes to mental health care. However, those who have work or school obligations, family responsibilities, and varying schedules find IOP to be the better option for treatment.
IOP provides the structured support and therapy you need during the day while allowing you to return home each evening. This means you can maintain your daily routine and stay connected with your loved ones without the need for residential care – all while receiving high-quality treatment. Additionally, going home each day gives you the opportunity to immediately apply the skills and techniques you’ve learned. Practicing these coping strategies in real-life situations, with ongoing support from your care team, helps reinforce and solidify them for lasting success.
While residential care is right for some, IOP is a great alternative for those who need intensive support but also need to keep up with their daily routines. It offers a balance between structure and independence, making it an excellent choice for anyone seeking long-term mental wellness. The dedicated team at Reflections Lifestyle Center will guide you along your treatment path and ensure you achieve your goals and desires.
